APRIL 22, 2018 - MINTO BR - OPEN AND SPORTER - RESULTS

Only 8 shooters attended this benchrest shoot on the nicest day we have enjoyed all year. I guess that on a day such as this everyone was coming out of doors and doing work in
their yards or being on a cruise.

The sun was out all day radiating its warmth and by the afternoon a temperature of 12 degrees C. was recorded. In fact the coolest place on the range today was in the shooting building where a
strong wind came in through the open ports.

Yes, there was a strong wind which varied in direction from 3 o'clock to 12 o'clock but which could come from anywhere in gusts. If you weren't careful you most certainly would get caught in a wind change. The
scores reflect the difficult conditions today. Challenging but satisfying when you read the wind correctly and your shot printed on the 10 ring.

Today the Match Director was John McC. Scoring was done by our good friend Don M. and the verification of the scores
and calculations was done by Wayne K. The targets were set and changed by George M., John McC., Wayne K., Bruce B. and Bert deV. The Range Officers were Bruce B. and Bill H. Shelly C.'s wonderful squares were brought up to the shoot by Tony L. Many thanks to all for lending a hand today.

APRIL 15, 2018 - PETITCODIAC 22BR - RESULTS

Here we are mid-way through April (one month into spring). This is usually a pretty nice time of year with warm sun and water running everywhere. Many song birds would have returned to New Brunswick by
now and we would be thinking of what needs to be done to prepare the garden.

This year is especially nice for those who are not yet ready to let go of snowmobiling, lighting fires in stoves and extending the winter cocooning.
It was COLD this morning at about 10C below zero and there was a stiff wind. Winds were gusty and especially for the first relay, all over the place. Scores sure reflect the conditions today. One saving grace was that the sun did come out but it didn't warm up much. In case you thought we were complaining, we were happy to be out together having fun.
Dan G. was the match director and head scorer with John McC. providing the verification. Thanks to Mike C., Guy H., John McC., Chris S. and Bert deV. for changing the targets. John McC., Bruce B. and Bert deV. were the ROs today. The most excellent treats were provided by Barb J. and Dan G. Thanks to everyone for pitching in and also to the big crowd of shooters for coming out. Let's do it again next week in Minto.

APRIL 8, 2018 - MINTO 22 OPEN AND SPORTER BR - RESULTS

Spring sure is taking its time getting here. Today, April the 8th already, was bright but cold (I don't think we came up above zero today - maybe we came close later on) and windy. More like weather we'd
expect in March. The wind, even though pretty stiff at times, was from the right and from behind (3 and 6 o'clock). and it remained steady throughout the match and so was predictable at times. Although no 400 scores were
shot today, some pretty goodshooting took place (after some of us had lost significant points trying to get sighted in).

It was good to see George M. and Cecil H. at the range today. These fellows have been battling some medical issues and things for them are looking up again. Thank goodness.

The Match Director was Wayne K. while Don M. and Mike C. did the scoring duties. A good crew tended to the targets. These included Wayne K., Cecil H., Ben F., Shawn R., Barb J. and Mike C. The ROs for the match were Bruce B. and Barb J. We were spoiled
again by Barb's treats and breads. Thanks to all for lending a hand to make this shoot an enjoyable time for all of us.

MARCH 25, 2018 - MINTO CF BR - RESULTS

It was another wonderful day shooting at the Minto ranges even though it was cold and very, very windy. It started out as a snowy day with temperatures hovered around zero but with the wind it felt much colder.
It remained overcast  and the snow was flying fast through our sight pictures until the last relay for everyone.  It then became very sunny and the glare on the snow and the targets became hard to deal with.

Before that it was the wind. It blew hard and steady from right to left with gusts now and then. These came unpredictably and quickly so at one moment, while looking at the flags, everything looked good for a shot and then, when looking through the scope, the
wind would gust or drop off enough to cause many of us to experience a drift from the center
to the ring. Challenging and frustratingNeedless to say, there were no perfect targets shot today.
We did have a lot of fun though (as we always do) under the capable direction of John McC. who was the match director. Don M. was the head scorer and did a superb job of giving us every point we deserved with Wayne K. verifying everything. Targets
were set and changed by hardy souls who did not mind the wind and marching through snow that had accumulated because of the drifting. These included John McC., Mike C., Volker T., Dan G., and Bert deV. The RSOs for the day were human icicles called Bruce B., Bill H. and Bert deV. Thank goodness we had a stove burning bright in the club-house where treats provided by Tony L. and Shelly C., as well as chocolate chip cookies from Dorothy McC., were ready to give comfort. Thanks to all who helped out today to make this an enjoyable shoot.

MARCH 18, 2018 - PETITCODIAC - CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

Well, here we are in March and we are sooo looking forward to spring. I guess we have to wait a little longer as we just received more snow in the last week or so than we
had all winter long. Heavy wet stuff that a day later froze to a stiff solid cement when the temperature plunged from 6 or 7 above to 12 below.

During the shoot today, it was cold which was made a little less tolerable by the wind out of the north. On the range the wind was mostly from 6 o'clock although we had frequent gusts across the range from both right and left. The temperature stayed below zero which made the room with the stove in it a favourite huddling spot.

All this was OK - we're from New Brunswick and can handle all this. The sun's glare on the fresh white snow was a little harder for not-so-young eyes and many shooters had problems focusing and managing the mirage.

Despite this, we had a lot of fun and shot not too badly either. Congratulations go to Don M. who broke the 300 barrier for the first time in Petitcodiac with a 300/11X. Way to go Don!! -  (he was  feeling jinxed as he has shot 299 so many times in the past few years but could never break the 300).

Today, Volker T. was the Match Director and head scorer with Dan G. verifying. The target
stands were dug out of the snow and set up by Shelly C. and Tony L. The target changers were Dan G., Shelly C., Cecil H., Bert deV., Brian P. and John McC. Range Officers today were Dan G., Darryl K. and John McC. We were kept warm by the firewood brought
by Darryl K. and Cecil H. while we enjoyed Shelly C.'s famous treats. Thanks to all for making this such an enjoyable shoot.
